Polygamy's Extreme Dual Standards part 2 with Kristyn Decker

Rebecca Kimbel talks with Kristyn Decker about the extreme dual standards in polygamy, where men live a life style every day that is increasingly better than that of their wives, where women are held responsible for that which they have no control over and where a wife's value is based on her willingness to martyr her emotions, desires and dreams for acceptance in eternity and survival in everyday life.

  1. First thing I picked up on is how the wife 'ages out,' so the husband goes to his younger wives to bear him more children, and probably because they're more gullible and will put up with his garbage. I wonder how much of Meri's willingness to consider IVF was to keep Cody interested in her?

Maybe Meri's comment about how 'freeing it is not to have to sleep with your husband every night' during the season finale Q&A is an indication that she really doesn't like Kody just as Kristen talks about around the 9 minute mark.

Notice how Rebecca talks about how her husband told her HE wouldn't resurrect her from the grave if she didn't do what he told her to do. This is the core teaching that keeps Mormon women in bondage to polygamy--the man has ALL power over her, so she has to obey him or she's doomed for eternity.

At 26:50 Rebecca mentions how the sister wives had to be united or they couldn't reach the celestial kingdom. This may be an FLDS doctrine as I've never come across it in all my reading on Mormonism. Also, the requirement for 7 wives could be the same as I've read that they had to have 3. Either way, it's just more ways the men use to control and subjegate the women.

  3. this is what Christine grew up with. she knows men could be bastards. kody said Kristin husband was not a nice man. Kody may have enterered into a marriage with meri knowing they were going to take more wives, but all of them seem so emotionally imature. In the episode where kody goes back to his home town, his high school friend said kodys mom was prostilizing in the community. Kristy Decker speaks the truth and kody and krew cant handle the truth

  4. Part 2 is every bit as good as part 1.
Kristyn stated she will be 61 in November....assuming she means this Nov of 2013, she is absolutely lovely.

Two standout statements from this video:

"Polygamy IS a violation of Human Rights"

    "Polygamy is *miserable* happiness"

I want to thank Mister Sister for bringing so much truly informative material to this blog in the last few months. I don't think any of us who have absorbed this information will be able to watch Sister Wives the same way again.

  6. I don't have much to add but love these videos! thanks for putting them up!

  7. Kristyn says the older wives are put on a shelf. That saddens me that in the twilight of their lives, the women must feel so alone. My husband and I actually got much closer once the kids were gone. Sad these women only have new young sister wives to take care of.

  8. This is a truly shocking and sad video. What a hell these women live. I used to think that if polygamy is chosen by adults that we should live and let live. But after seeing this video I see why this needs to be stopped. It is a lifetime of MENTAL ABUSE! This "lifestyle" should not be tolerated. I want these women to see that they are being brainwashed from birth to put their husband up on a pedestal. They could be so much happier as single mom's without all the heartache these bastards are dishing out.

  9. Christine knows all of this crap. They cant convince me they are that removed from the abuses pf this "lifestyle" no wonder christine was so freaked out by her aunt. chritine had to immediately discredit her by saying she hated her family, and act like a fool, like her aunt would do harm. The Browns saw their gravy train go poof if the public assosiated the crimes of polygamy with them in any way..there for dis monogogy and attack christine decker

  10. Unrelated - New pic of Meri and Hunter with Josh Groban. Kind of sad Groban (who I like) got sucked into a photo with the Browns.

    1. Looked at the pic of Meri and Hunter......
It appears that *someone* on the cuddle sac compound has been reading SWB.

For this pic, Meri has ditched her signature orange glow face AND her hair is now in soft layers, minus the bizarre, hedgeclippered chop look.

SWB has apparently done its civic duty. :))

    2. Amused - take a closer look. As much as I'd love for Meri's hair to undergo a transformation, I think the fuzzy pic makes it look better than it really is. I can still see a lot of fly-aways and it still looks chopped to me. I think it looks better because it's longer. I agree though, that the orange glow is gone which is a HUGE improvement!

She must have done a quick blow-out for volume. Still choppy though.

  12. If I was born into 1 of these groups I probably wouldn't have lasted thru puberty. They would have burned me at stake. Cause someone says detrimental to me or my family, they would get it back 5 fold. I will always take care of my little sisters.

  13. Say Kody takes a 5th wife. The older wife's are passing away. So now he has 4 women in heven 1 women on earth. So he gets some more wives to fill up those 4 mansions. Then Body calls his wives but 2 he left off. Would they kick his butt out of seven. Just wondering any punishment for a man like that. If anyone knows the answer let me know.enquiring minds like to know.

  14. So glad the blog continues to be informative and still focusing on polygamy. I agree with the above poster that said few will be able to see the TV Sisterwives show in the same light after having learned so much here. Thanks to all who post and especially Mister Sister!!!!

  15. After listening to Christines Aunt I have to wonder that during the debate with the sister wives if Christine was not freaked out because she had confided in her aunt at one point. When Kody took his 4th wife Christine had a lot of emotional difficulties dealing with it. I wonder if she confided in her aunt and at the actual debate was scared to death her aunt would divulge these conversations. Just a thought.

We saw that Christine with a new baby got almost no Kody attention and then his new bride and he took off on a 2 week honeymoon while Christine was at home with her 6 children one being a new baby. You see the callousness in this and the wives have to put on happy faces throughout the whole wedding planning and wedding itself. Any woman can put herself in this place of being already a wife and going to her husbands wedding to a younger thinner wife. Or even any other woman at all how a wife would feel. I think it is gut wrenching and I bet there were some tears on pillows that night. Maybe not on Janelles pillow. Because although she is talking flirty about Kody this year she sees her marriage to him more like a friends with benefits situation. That is the only way to keep ones heart out of it and feelings from getting too involved. Kristyn at 61 (looks 45) still continues to dedicate her life to helping victims escape polygamy and she should get her crown with jewels without having had to suffer through that life.

    1. Anon 10:34,

Your recollections about Christine having to deal with five children, along with a just delivered new baby watching (and, to add insult to injury, *being filmed* watching) puffed up Kody all studded up over his newest #4 stable mare was wrenching to see *as entertainment* on SW.

That was just one of the many reasons I sought any place online that was reacting to what I was seeing. It was despicable...and it was being touted as a hit show. I just did not get it !!

Thankfully, SWB was and is the place that exposes and presents the REAL truth about polygamy. SisterWives, the show, is nothing more than a money machine for Kody Brown and TLC.

    2. This is one of the few explanations that make any sense of why Christine was so afraid of her aunt.

My other theory is that Christine (whom everyone in the family recognises as a chronic liar) was just lying about being afraid to up the "drama" for the show. If so, she failed miserably and made herself look like a complete jacka$$.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous 8:12, that's an interesting insight into Christine. I always felt that TLC showcased her in a kind, sweet, go-with-the-flow sort of way. She is still my favorite "Sister Wife" of the four. However, perhaps those closest to the family know what really goes on when the cameras aren't filming. I would pay big money to be a fly on the wall, flittering throughout the various Brown McMansions!

      Delete
    4. The sweetness is a thin veneer. Lying, cheating, sarcasm and passive aggression are not kind and sweet. It's not for nothing that Kody describes her as a biting pixie.

She is very calculating, wanting to be the third wife, assuming she will remain the last wife and avoiding the pain of being replaced, as she replaced the first two wives. She sure calculated that one wrong. She wanted to be a polygamy activist before she really experienced what polygamy does to women. Her enthusiasm for activism must be waning if she can't even face her own loving aunt.

  16. As Plural Ants In My Pants & Anon @ 1:36 am posted above, I will never be able to watch another Sister Wives/Polygamy show the same way again (naively.)

I keep learning new things here like:
    1) the women are told that God gave Jesus for our salvation, so they too need to be able to give away their children, either young daughters to marriage or young sons cast out when they might attract girls of the same age.
    2) sadly Kristyn said she hasn't seen a genuinely happy polygamous family yet! So reading between the lines, we know this includes the Browns. Can't help but think of sad Christine, Janelle and even Meri.
    3) Kristyn bluntly put it, when a wife is cast aside, the men basically feel, 'I have a woman who is feeding my ego and it isn't you!' That really sums it up.
    4) Any kind of blame is placed back on the wife, not matter what: a) a child having problems, even though the husband is maybe never around; b) all the wives aren't getting along; and c) even the husband - a 'righteous husband' is on the wife's shoulders and she 'needs to pray' for him! OMG.

It sickens me that this belief system tells women that they need to go through all of this in order to have ever lasting life and that they (and all of their children) are at the complete mercy of their husband for an eternity.

    Great interviews!

  17. I agree with Anon 10:34. I think the reason Christine acted like she was scared of her aunt is she thought her aunt would bring up some specific info on the Brown family. You know with her being Christines aunt, Kristyn has probably seen & heard a lot of things and has probably been a shoulder to cry on for Christine and her mother over the years. Christine didn't know men could be such Bast...s , yeah right, we beleive you.

  18. In general, we do not post about the Browns or others involved in the Browns Facebook page. I let one through the other day, but as a rule, that is their space to talk and we respect that. thanks!

  20. That puts a different spin on "I believe in living this lifestyle", doesn't it? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  21. IMHO I think that the Browns have seen their 15 minutes of fame. No one really cares about them anymore. They all lie. Nothing we see on tv is the truth. They only do the show for the money. Kody has these women so brain washed. As a woman, it makes me mad to think that these women believe their salvation is tied to Kody. This is what they learned at a young age. I wish that they all can be helped and escape this lifestyle. I wish that their so called fans would come and read this blog and see what we do. Polygamy is sick and twisted. It only benefits the men. It's a good thing that I do not live in Vegas. I would go to every public function and ask these women to tell us the truth. There is no way in hell, these women are happy. TLC has made money off this family. Do these women not realize what they are putting their kids through. Polygamy is abusive no matter which way you look at it. I am going to issue a challenge to the Sister Wives fans. I want them to read this blog and read some of the books on polygamy and then let us know if their views have changed. Lots of people say, let them live their lives, it's not hurting anyone. Yes,it is. Yes, they are adults and yes, they should live as they choose. TLC is making the Brown family be the poster children for polygamy. Their lifestyle is not the truth. Most polygamist families live in poverty. Many of them are on welfare and get assistance. These women live as single mothers. It just saddens me to think that these women are so blind. I hope that this is the last we see of Sister Wives. I love this blog, I just don't want to support polygamy in any way.

  23. I have been reading books and educating myself about polygamy as I was a sisterwives fan. Now, I am seeing that the show began shortly after the FLDS was invaded by CPS. I see now that the Browns likely are getting backing from FLDS to do this show to say, LOOK! We are so normal and fit in with mainstream society. There is not a ounce of abuse here. They, I believe, were set up to be poster family for good relations for the polygamy sects. They are all tied together somehow and not all that separate. It was interesting at first and now I have read more and more books such as written by Caroly Jessop, Irene Spencer, and Susan Schmidt as well as Sister Wives by Kody and wives, I see the abuses are more then I ever knew existed. Do not be surprised if their houses were funded in part by the church.

In response yes I have read the comments on this post and the articles and seen the videos. While I have other religious beliefs and totally do not agree with the Mormon belief, I think if one wants to practice polygamy without the whole I need you to get to heaven belief then it is ok. No child should ever be made to marry, in fact no matter what your beliefs not before 18 at the earliest. And if you wish to be out of the marriage it should be your choice alone and people should not have the right to interfere.
As for the idea of if the Brown women are happy I think we have seen such a small part of their life and such a scripted part there is no way to say if they are or not.
I do wish them the best and I hope the children grow up and find their own way and happiness in life.

      Possibly so.
But then why do they show and display for the camera so may scenes of discontent, anxiety and depression. Why not show their their bliss if it exists??

And.....if outright scripted, then why agree to follow such the script if its not true?

      *Shhh..all for the money.*

  26. Ladies, let's boil this down - finally! If polygamy is decriminalized on the basis of the religious freedom of brainwashed women, it strikes a major blow to women's rights! We've fought too long and hard, and we still aren't all the way there (equal pay, for example)! Let's not take a step back!
